Search in BI

Bi_framework_2020

I believe that we must distinguish the vendors due to their product portfolio. There is a fact that there are main vendors that provide end to end. You know that they will be always with you, despite their illogical pricing policies(sometimesJ). There are also small but niche vendors that offer something good but with several missing points.

I like the depiction of BI Framework by W. Eckerson. It is clear that search has become so key for sometime but technology is still not %100 capable of what users require. When you include world-languages(NLP), there are still many languages are ignored. However, search is the key now and all mature BI vendors do something about it.

I advise you to look at framework and think about your company where you are and where you will be at in couple years? J

Commenting on framework takes hours:(J

Mobility and Business Intelligence

Mobile_portable-power-infograp

Business Intelligence has obtained another perspective or lets say another usage era has been opened.  It is good depiction of how mobile affects BI or vice-versa ; how BI is penetrated or extended with BI J

Consumeration of BI

Yes, BI market has been talking about consumeration BI for sometime. However, I have decided to say that this is a just buzz  word. Why? Because each consumeration brings another new paradigma in BI so that this game will never end, it will only go under transformation. What I find very interesting is that people talk about data exploration is like a new term or user requirement in BI? OLAP Technology was miracle long time ago in BI arena, because it used to give multi dimentional looking of data with high level graphics. Then, it was enough for business users while data volume and visualization go up. There is no question mark that there will always new players in the market with niche innovation or niche usage. Thus, this will not change fundamental need of Business Intelligence technology. I have personally not seen any new vendors who provide end to end solution. Instead, they just provide something new while ignoring fundatementals.Anyhow, this is cool research from Domo. Thanks to them. cheers
